NSA’s Website/Server Got Hacked,
Again?
Security
breaches are very often in last few years. There’s a lot of companies and major
web services got hacked and their private information was released to
public, in this case, target was NSA.
NSA, known for spying on people all
around the world was hacked few days ago and their exploits are released on
WikiLeaks, we’ve made interesting video about privilege escalation/bypass
command filter in Linux. We tested that exploit on Ubuntu, but it works on
CentOS as well.
If you visit http://nsa.gov , you will probably
get “Invalid URL” page. There’s also weird video released on Facebook page
“LulzSec Croatia”.
This
video is getting more and more attention. If there was deface page, It’s
deleted now. It looks like Croatian hackers strike again, after they hacked
Acunetix few months ago, here’s new hack. If website was really hacked, It’s
maybe done using NSA’s exploits that has been released to public.
As
former hacker LulzSec hacker Mustafa Al-Bassam describes
on his blog, the released files appear to contain exploit code for
hacking firewalls.
Sure enough, it has been confirmed
that at least some of the Shadow Brokers’ vulnerabilities are real.
Cisco
is one of the firewall vendors impacted by the exploits, and has issued a security
advisoryraising customers’ awareness of the EXTRABACON and
EPICBANANA vulnerabilities.
So,
who are the Shadow Brokers? Could it be, as many are assuming, a hacking gang
backed by the Russians? Or might it be a rogue
NSA insider who has
leaked the data?
The truth is, we simply do not know
at this time – and until more information comes out it almost seems pointless
speculating.
